After receiving a positive assessment from the Dutch Care Needs Assessment Centre (CIZ) for Intensive Care, you may opt for a Personal Budget (Persoonsgebonden Budget, PGB) under the Social Support Act (Wmo) or the Long-term Care Act (Wlz). The PGB amounts to approximately €1,300 net per month for self-arranged care, such as childcare or therapy.
To proceed, you must:
- Draft a care plan including a budget holder agreement.
- Establish a drawing right with the Social Insurance Bank (SVB).
Advantages: Flexibility in choosing care providers.
Disadvantages: Administrative burdens and spending oversight.
An application may be rejected if the care plan is deemed insufficient. Annual accountability is mandatory, requiring receipts and documentation. In cases of misuse, recovery of funds may be enforced.
Article 41 of the Participation Act (Wwb) governs PGB as an alternative to in-kind care. For disputes regarding PGB history, seek legal advice.
