When transitioning from social assistance to unemployment benefit (Unemployment Act), more lenient asset rules apply. UWV does not test a strict threshold as with social assistance, but does assess 'available income'. Savings above €6,130 (2024) partially reduce the unemployment benefit: for every €4 above the threshold, €1 less benefit. Partner income is fully taken into account. WWB asset threshold lapses, but own home and furnishings remain exempt. Duration of WW: max 24 months, depending on employment history. Report changes to UWV within 7 days. Difference with social assistance: no accrual period, but asset increase after dismissal counts as income. Example: severance pay paid out as assets reduces WW. Sickness Benefit follows WW rules. Verification via payslips and bank data. Advantages: higher benefit (70% of salary). Back to social assistance after WW? Then asset threshold applies again. Calculate via UWV calculator. Legal basis: WW Article 24. Seek work via outplacement to preserve rights.
