Rent Increase in the Social Housing Sector: Maximum Percentages
In 2024, rent may be increased by 5.4% or up to the maximum rental price. Housing associations must announce this by 1 May. You can agree or lodge an objection.
Types of Rent Increases
Inflation-linked: Maximum 5.4%. Alignment with income: After vacancy, adjusted to income-dependent price. Improvements: Additional increase for investments, subject to consent.
Objection Procedure
- Refuse in writing within 2 months.
- Pay at least 40% during the procedure.
- The Rent Assessment Committee issues a binding decision.
No increase applies to recently purchased homes or in case of disputes. Good Landlordship Act Art. 7 protects against excessive increases.
Inflation Table
- 2023: 2%.
- 2024: 5.4% (CPB forecast).
