Have you received a negative decision on social assistance due to excess income? You have a 6-week right to object. Send a letter with motivation to your municipality, including supporting documents such as payslips or asset overviews. The municipality decides within 8 weeks; silence = approval.

Grounds for objection: calculation error, unaccounted costs or changed circumstances. In cases of urgent need, preliminary relief applies via the court (costs €86). Step 2: appeal to the district court (kanton sector), with court fee €195 (refunded if successful).

In 2023, 35% of objections were successful. Examples: incorrectly included benefit or incorrect family composition. Keep all correspondence. Assistance via Juridisch Loket (free) or legal expenses insurance. Urgent? Apply for provisional benefit. Success depends on completeness; consult model letters on rechtspraak.nl.
