The application for AOW voluntary insurance is handled via the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). Download the 'Voluntary AOW Insurance' form from svb.nl and complete it with your passport, proof of address and income details. Submit within three months after emigration, otherwise you risk a gap in coverage. By post to SVB Postbus 52313, 1202 DE Hilversum, or digitally via Mijn SVB with DigiD. The SVB will assess within eight weeks and send a decision. In case of rejection, you can lodge an objection within six weeks. For urgent matters: call the SVB information line +31 20 633 55 33. Keep copies of everything. After approval, you will receive an annual premium assessment; pay via iDEAL or bank transfer. Report changes such as address or income immediately. In case of relocation within the EU: update BRP. This procedure ensures continuity of your AOW rights without interruptions.
